Who we are
Welcome to our home in the Colorado mountains — a place of peace, rest, and encounter. We're a couple with a deep heart for ministry and a desire to serve those who serve others. Through God’s grace and generosity, we've been given a home that we now open to pastors, missionaries, worship leaders, and others in ministry who need time away to rest, heal, and reconnect with God.
Whether you're seeking solitude, prayer, or simply a quiet space to breathe deeply in creation, our hope is that this home will be a sanctuary — a place where you feel known by God, restored in spirit, and renewed in purpose.
This isn’t just a house in the mountains. It’s a space created for encounter, rest, and restoration — and we’re honored to share it with you.
Bruce and Cathy
The Story of Peace Place
The Lord sent Bruce and I (Cathy) on a quest to find a “ministry house”, a “mission home” for missionaries and other Christians who need rest and respite from the rigors of life while following the Lord in other countries and in ministries in the USA. We began looking and seeking the Lord for “the place.” After a few years of looking all over the USA and visiting a similar ministry in Idaho, we found Pagosa Springs, CO. Friends had told us to visit this community because they loved the area so
much. We arrived in the spring, 2018, in Pagosa Springs, and contacted a realtor to show us some properties. We, of course, were not going to purchase any property, (mainly because we didn’t have any money for the down payment), but we wanted to look. We had certain criteria necessary for a “ministry” home when looking—a separate quarters for our guests so they would have their own easily accessible space. We looked at several properties in the area, but the first one was special. We went to a restaurant that evening and met a waiter who looked at us and said, “If God wants you here in Pagosa, He will get you here fast.” So we decided to make an offer on the special property.
That night I was struggling with the purchase. Was this “the” place”? Lord, we need to hear you clearly if this is what we are supposed to do. While I was struggling over the decision, Bruce received the Scripture for the house, Matthew 11:28-30. So, we made the offer on the property and left it in God’s hands. The final prophetic piece to the puzzle was the name of the street where this special house was, Peace Place, a fulfillment of the Matthew 11:28-30 scripture. After some miraculous circumstances, we became the owners of 207 Peace Place, our mission/ministry home, and our first visit was in August, 2018. Our quest was fulfilled. Some work and remodel had to be done. A kitchen was installed in the Peace Place Retreat downstairs, plus some landscaping so access could be easily made to the Retreat from the outside. We have entertained many missionaries and ministers from many parts of the world, plus friends and family. Our goal is to continue the vision for Peace Place and Peace Place Retreat as a blessing for rest and respite. Peace be with you and blessing to all who enter here.
